What is Beeswax Food Wrap?
KoKeBee the Beeswax Food Wrap is a food preservation wrap made of cotton fabric impregnated with beeswax, organic jojoba oil and natural resin. Due to the excellent antibacterial properties of beeswax and jojoba oil, it not only keeps the food fresh and delicious, but it also makes the kitchen fun and brighten up with its colourful patterns.
By warming the wrap with the warmth of your hand, it fits in any shape. You can wash it with water and use it repeatedly. As you continue to use it, the texture will gradually become softer and easier to wrap. In addition to vegetables and fruits, you can also wrap sandwiches and rice balls(snacks), and cover containers. The usage is endless depending on the idea.
If it wears out, you can gently reheat it with an iron or an oven to melt the beeswax and regenerate it. You can use it as many times as you like for over a year. At the end of wrap’s useful life in the kitchen, cut the wrap into small pieces to add to your compost heap/soil. It returns to the soil via natural decomposing processes. Beeswax wrap is a product that is kind to the global environment.

Why Organic Cotton?
There are very few pesticide residues that can be detected in cotton, so it’s almost impossible to tell whether it’s conventional cultivation or organic by scientific tests. Nevertheless, we strive to use organic cotton as a raw material for KoKeBee’s beeswax eco wrap and there is a reason.
In normal cotton cultivation, in addition to large amounts of chemical fertilisers, pest control, weed removal, fungicides, sterilisation and pre-harvest defoliants are used. Also, while cotton farms occupy only 2.5% of the cultivated land in the world, as much as 16% of the insecticides in the world are used for cotton cultivation.
Conventional cultivation of cotton, which is closely related to a use of large quantities of chemicals. The pesticide kills the microorganisms in the soil, killing the soil reduces the yield. Poor farmers struggle with debt by buying more pesticides to try and increase their yields. That is such a vicious circle.
Organic cotton is very expensive because it takes a lot of work to produce. Nevertheless, KoKeBee wants as many people as possible to use organic cotton products despite of the current facts. By combining organic cotton and ordinary cotton products, we succeeded to increase market needs and realised setting affordable prices. We would like to encourage the spread of organic cotton and support organic cotton farms.
By as many people as possible using KoKeBee’s beeswax eco-wrap, we would like to further expand the organic cotton market, which will reduce the usage rate of pesticides such as insecticides. As a result the soil will regain its vitality and the health of the land will be restored.

Why Beeswax?
Beeswax is made by melting wax in a bee nest and collecting wax. It is a light yellow colour and dissolves in vegetable oils, but not in mineral oils. Beeswax contains honey and propolis ingredients, so it has excellent moisturising, antibacterial and waterproof properties, and also has an excellent natural healing effect. It is also used for skin irritation, cuts and burns.
If the bees disappear from the earth, humans would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more humans.
Did you know that in the old days, Einstein said, “If the bees disappear from the world, humankind will be extinct in four years.” Approximately 70% of the earth’s crops we eat are pollinated by bees.
The number off bees is decreasing all over the world now. The use of pesticides and insecticides is said to be a major reason.
If the bees disappear, the crops that used to bear fruit by bee pollination will no longer grow, many vegetables would disappear from the market. Since the grain that feeds livestock will not grow, meat, milk, and dairy products would disappear too. We will not be able to produce fibre, and we will lose clothing and paper products. If the bees disappear, the world will change dramatically.
KoKeBee’s beeswax eco wrap uses beeswax from beehives as a raw material to help beekeepers who sell it. We also carefully select and support beekeepers who are running bee farm in an ethical manner.

Why not Plastic?
The majority of food storage wraps are made of plastic, but do you know that environmental hormones such as BPA contained in plastics dissolve into the food and can cause harmful effect to those who eat it? Plastic also pollutes the air as it produces toxic gases such as dioxins when heated, affecting our bodies.
Also, because the plastic that becomes rubbish is not decomposed for thousands of years, it pollutes the soil and the sea, and by eating vegetables grown on the polluted soil and fish from the dirty sea, it comes back to us again and threatens our health.
Please imagine, if one person uses 35cm of plastic wrap a day, 126 meters of plastic wrap and its packaging will be rubbish a year. In other words, if one person uses KoKeBee’s beeswax eco-wrap, reduce the amount of plastic waste and harmful substances generated from it. If there are tens, hundreds, and thousands of people, we will be able to contribute to the earth and live in abundant nature.
